Street Library Project

An Innovative solution to fight illiteracy

Street Library program aims to fight illiteracy and foster better education in Liberia by encouraging children to read and discover the joy of reading. The Street Library works with communities to improve literacy rates in Liberia by facilitating access to information, books and technological devices while spreading the joy of reading across disadvantaged rural communities who would otherwise have little or no access to these resources.

Placement Length

The average volunteer placement is around three months which allows volunteers to establish solid relationships in the community and contribute a reasonable amount of time to the projects. It is important to recognise that, although the volunteers will benefit enormously from their experience volunteering.

Program Coordination

It is very important to maintain consistency and continuity in relationships, projects and work already underway and, to this end, we have a Volunteer Projects Manager who is responsible for all volunteers.
